Gene's Hollow & Scrying Stone ChangesDue to some players feeling confusion and frustration over the status of mutation carriers and how to advertise them in the Trading Center, we have decided to remove mutations and secondary mutations from appearing in the Scrying Stone. We recognise that many players were using scrying to determine if their wolves carried a gene or not, and have added a new area to the Crossroads instead to use for this purpose. This brings us to the new location, which can be found by clicking the 'Gene's Hollow' Crossroads token! Gene the bat is very interested in genetics and possesses some abilities to look deep into the DNA of your wolves to discover whether or not they carry any mutations! This service is completely optional and costs 150 SC. Gene can screen any of your wolves for the carrier status of all present hereditary mutations - including Brachycephaly! It can be used on puppies, so no need to wait for adulthood to determine if there's a mutation present! It will also be displayed permanently and publicly on your wolf's page, so it can be used with certainty in trades and breeding. You can only analyse your own wolves. We hope you'll all understand why we had to go ahead and change the scrying stone for this purpose, and will join us in welcoming the friendly bat to Wolvden! Note: Given the nature of this change, we will ask going forward that members do not list trades as having "potential" or "possible" (or any alternative) mutation carriers any more. This tool gives a definitive answer to this mystery and we would not like members to be misled. Hunting Changes We've been keeping an eye on various parts of the game since launch and how they're running. We've made some observations with hunting, and decided to do a bit of an overhaul on how hunting results are calculated. Proficiency and Synergy both had a huge impact on hunting results, far more of an impact than actual skill and more of an impact than we'd have actually liked. Going forward, Proficiency and Synergy do still contribute towards the result of a hunt, but not to the same extent that they did. Previously, Proficiency and Synergy would be the difference between taking down a large prey. Wolves with only 50 stats in each required stat would go from a 10% success rate with no Proficiency and Synergy, and 100% success rate with 100% Proficiency and Synergy. The difference should not be that much without significant increases to stats as well. Because of this change, we have also increased the chances based on stats alone to make up for some of the loss with the proficiency and synergy gains. In addition to this, synergy and proficiency now get stronger and stronger with more stats, so hunting in higher difficulty biomes is more consistent. 1 point of proficiency is worth more on a 200 stat wolf than a 50 stat wolf. Please note that this spreadsheet does not take into account any luck, seasonal or personality effects. We hope that this will lead to more consistent results, and feeling as though stats are far more impactful. Additionally, with a more streamlined formula, it gives us the opportunity to give predicted results when choosing a trail, so when choosing a scent to follow you will now see a percentage which is how successful the game thinks you will be if you follow each. Securing a WolfIn order to help prevent accidents, we have added in a 'Secure Wolf' feature, which can be located at the bottom of a wolf's settings, where 'Chase' is. Chasing is now pushed over to the right and has a different color theme, with Secure Wolf to the left of it. Securing a wolf will disable the ability to chase, retire, or trade it away. This feature should be handy to stop you from accidentally performing one of those actions on a wolf you wanted to keep. Puppy Survival Den NoticeIn a similar spirit, we have added a toggle for a new feature. This toggle is defaulted to 'On' for all players, and when enabled, will display an alert on your den page if any puppies are in your den with less than 100% survival. We hope this will help flag up any puppies that were accidentally forgotten and are especially important to you, enough so that you want to guarantee their survival. If you click the notice, it will take you to a page that will give a full list of which puppies are below 100%. HTML ToggleAdditionally, a toggle can be found in your profile settings to disable HTML on other players' profiles and dens.
